Kaiju Kids (Shaney, Squeakie and Joe: Joint Gift)

If I haven't confessed it already, I might as well do so now... Ever since I saw Godzilla (2014) in theaters, I have been instantly hooked on the King of Monsters and have delved into research on the Toho franchise that has made me an official kaiju nerd! X3 I've been on a major Godzilla craze for quite a while now... It's hooked both my outer nerdy self as well as my playful inner child! :3 So I figured if that was the case, I should probably express it through art! ^3^ Thus, we have Shaney and his two bestest friends ever, Squeakie and Joe , all dressed up in kid-sized Toho kaiju outfits! Shaney poses as none other than the big G himself, Gojira (Godzilla's original Japanese name, for those who don't know), Squeakie flies high as the cuddly yet powerful Mothra, and Joe comes in as one of Godzilla's most trusty allies, Anguirus, the giant mutant anklyosaur! They're all ready to defend the Earth and smash some cities, all before bedtime! ^^ Or some cutesy tagline like that, I dunno... X3
Artist's comments! ^3^ We haven't had these in a long time, have we? For starters, I'm not sure if anyone's noticed, but I tried to make the Godzilla eye most like the 2014 version, and went for a dark but still vivid color scheme that closely resembled the 2014 version. The onesie-style suits for Shaney and Joe are meant for support for the tails. I would've had Squeakie's Mothra suit onesie-style as well, but figured "Eh, might as well have at least one open diaper in this." In terms of kaiju choice, there's more of an inner reason for what's been done here. Shaney is Godzilla because not only is he totally fixated on the King of Kaiju in terms of fandom, but there's a part of his personality that kind of strives to be the center of attention, but for good intentions, kind of similar to his Super Shaney persona in that DC elseworld I made up to house that side of the character. X3 I cast Squeakie as Mothra because not only is Mothra one of the only girl kaiju out there (yes, Mothra is a she), but I know that Mothra happens to be one of Squeakie's favorite kaiju, alongside Gojira and King Ghidorah. I also camouflaged her arms into her wings in order to create more of an effect with the costume! :3 I wanted to cast Joe as a kaiju who's an ally to Godzilla, to signify his close friendship with Shaney, so finding a kaiju to fit that bill was a little bit tricky at first when I asked him what his favorite kaiju were in a conversation we had in texts. He said he liked a lot of the bad-guy kaiju for their badass designs and move sets, like Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla. I didn't want to spoil the surprise of the artwork completely, so I told him a little bit of why I needed to find a fav ally kaiju to Godzilla of his, and after describing a few to him, he liked the sound of Anguiris the best. ^^ If I didn't politely ask for his consensus on that, I would've probably just cast Joe as Rodan, the giant mutant Pteradon... I hope everyone likes this! :3 Especially Squeakie and Joe, my bestest friends! ^3^
